Batman Day 2017

Those of you who know me know I'm a big Batman fan. A huge goal of mine is to work on a Batman comic and even write AND draw my own (like Frank Miller). So I'm always drawing Batman. This year for Batman Day I wanted to go a little above and beyond and pretend I had a cover assignment for Batman. I put a lot of care into the composition and framing as well as in every little detail. Someday you'll see my work on Batman. For now, enjoy this.

Here's a series of covers I did for writer Jamie Evans. I went more "stylistic" or "comic book" than my usual more photo-real illustration style. I personally like the look and simpler color palettes.

Arkady, Yuki, Aldergate, Kavian, and Cerise each come from parallel worlds, until mysterious portals draw the five of them together to a strange place to which none of them belong. The problem is, that strange world may be getting far more than it bargained for.

Kickstarter - Hell Paso

In 2010 I got my first opportunity at my first paid comic gig. It was on a mini-series called Hell Paso. I did pencils and inks for issue 5 and did inks and some color assistance on issue 6. You can find the series here.

Well I'm proud to say that 3 years later, writer Jaime Portillo of JimmyDaze Comics, launched a Kickstarter to have a special edition Trade Paperback print of Hell Paso made. Meaning all 6 issues in one big book, plus special features and bonus material. His Kickstarter was successful, and even though I'm not earning royalties of any sort off of this series, it's important to me being the project that started my career. So congrats to Jaime Portillo! Awesome!

Collab - Magneto

I actually started this in 2012, but didn't get around to finishing it until recently. I don't normally collab with other artists, but this was a fun one. Pencils by Rudy Vasquez. I painted over his lines, not traditional comic style. But as a painter I prefer this :).

Fanart - The Walking Dead - Michonne

I haven't seen the new season of The Walking Dead, but I've read a lot of the comics and Michonne is by far my favorite character. Robert Kirkman is a creative genius and everything about The Walking Dead is amazing, but Michonne takes the cake. She is such a cool character. I love her history, I love her personality. Rick is alright. But Michonne is walking badassery. I hope I did her justice with this painting.
